A One Keystroke Passcode For The iPhone

You can lock your device by entering a secure code.  There are two types of codes that are available.  One is a simple passcode and the other is not.  I know that many of you prefer not to use a passcode because it is inconvenient.  A simple passcode requires you to enter four digits to unlock your device.  Now, let me show you another way to lock your phone with as little as one character.    Here is how to do it.

  • Go to Settings and then to General.
  • Under the General settings scroll down to Passcode lock.
  • Notice that “Simple Passcode” by default is turned ON and that it is blue.
  • Put your finger on the blue “ON” and slide it so the “ON” is no longer blue but is grayed out and is “OFF.”
  • Then  click “Turn Passcode On”.
  • You will notice two things that are different:  There are not four boxes to type digits and there is an alphabet keyboard.
  • Now you can enter as many numbers, letters or characters in your passcode.
  • With letters, digits, and characters available, your passcode has become extremely secure.
